ROSES TO CONCRETE

I agree to Jeff's point, that most common issue of students not performing well in the class or dropping out of college  is basically the un fulfillment of their basic needs. The basic needs include food , clothing, shelter, money , transportation , proper guidance , proper support , being social , etc . If these basic needs are met then the students can cross Mosleys's heirarchy of needs's second step. Education becomes the second priority of most of students when they are unable to get their basic needs fulfilled. For example, if they are not getting proper food, and are starving then their first priority comes how to get food and not education. Education comes on next place when they are faced with such circumstances. The second thing which distracts them from continual of their education is definitly the isolated system of college, where students come in class and are alienated to each other for whole semester. They don't get in  touch with each other, due to which they are not involved in college as much as they should. They don't know each other . Its like a life only by themselves . The sharing of knowleage does nOt take place. The relationship between college and students goes parrallel to each other due to this. furthermore ,if the student is continually absent from college for many days ,nobody cares to know the exact  reason . When he drops out or the instructor drops him or her out the reason should be tried to look after by the college. As ,it could be that the student is facing many obstacles and if college could help him or her in dealing with them .It could make more easier for the students to continue their college, and they can come up with their needs and problems to college.Due to the fact that the personal and basic issues are not given in any preference in college system the students mind keeps on distracted towards their problems ,they are always in such a state of mind that how their problem can be solved ,which nobody in college exactly knows .On the other hand if their problems could be helped by college to meet their needs and requirements then can the students make education their first priority.Every student basically has same capacity,  only the difference is in realization of their capacity of their specific interest.Although, every field of study is not meant for everybody, but, any one or two out of various courses are definitly meant for them based on their interests and passion.Education needs to be such which inspires the minds of students and not merely trains them.
1)Why do the students become less curious towards studies as they grow up, as compared to their younger years?

2)How can the students be more inspired towards college?

3)How can students be made more social to school and college surroundings?

  1. I agree too how can we learn be successful and thrive in college when you do not have the tools necessary to do so. Part of our success falls back us the student but some of it fall back on the schools and teachers.
