Success

DEFINING SUCCESS :

Success is not an easy task.It is not a gift, but it is hard to achieve and accomplish success. It is accomplished by having passion, devotion and tremendous amount of dedication and enthusiasm.Success is not merely being famous and wealthy.Real success is living a peaceful and happy life without any stress. To be successful is to work hard day and night to achieve your set goal, not everything in life is handed to you. As being richest man in the world does not mean that you are the happiest man in the world. But helping others to get inspired and lead them towards happiness makes you more successful. As according to me one is successful if he/she has made a difference in some body's poor life, your success counts from how many people you have helped in life, not on that how many you have defeated. It does not mean letting others down, but it means, giving them hands to get up.

THE FACTORS THAT AFFECT SUCCEED IN COMMUNITY :

  • PASSION : In order to succeed passion is the force which keeps on pushing you towards your set goal. Passion keeps on motivating and does not allow to give up . It keeps you focused on your set goal and boosts confidence in you.It adds willingness to work on the set goal with consistency and hard work which finally leads to  success. Passionate people are the successful ones. When one has a passion for a set goal than he does not do things by halves during his path o that goal . Indeed he goes all the way deep dawn and dig everything about his goal. For instance it is a well known fact that when an egg is broken from outside force it destroys life , but when it is broken by inside force  it creates new life. so big things always happen from inside, and passion is one of the inside force which keeps on motivating one to achieve the set goal.on the contrary if you lack passion than you cant pursue your dreams and just give up fast.

  • SUPPORT : In order to be successful in community the second factor that is essential is support. the support of family, community, friends, relatives, colleagues, teachers . Getting support for your set goal can help you touch heights without any difficulty but if one tries to accomplish one's desires on their own self than it becomes very difficult to achieve it. For instance as Chris Mclandess , he tried to do everything on his own and rejected the support of his family as well as friends who offered him help , due to which he ended up in finally losing . Support of family is one of the major things that leads success. One gets all the resources for their set goals without having to strive for each and everything, but if you lack family support like Sara Smolinsky in the novel  'Bread Givers' by Anzia Yezierska than it becomes too difficult to bring up your dreams to reality.

  •  SOCIAL RELATIONSHIPS : Having positive and healthy social networks also helps to succeed. Positive and hardworking individuals in the team and in one inner circle can keep one motivated and they play a role in others success too. Along with this, the manner in which you make people feel when you interact with others plays a vital role in success. One needs to be flexible in dealing with every situation . If you stand tough and stiff about your ideas and ignore others point of view it makes your negative picture in society and can hinder in your success. Your attitude goes for in others impression of you. People can recommend you in jobs faster and with joy if you have good connections with them , but if  you are self centered than this can hindrance in your success.

  • CULTURE : Culture plays crucial role in success. sometimes the societal and cultural norms do not allow people to move on their dreams . they set boundaries for them , which makes it difficult for them to cross that boundaries, but in case of Chris he had no such limitation of culture due to which it was easy for him to live his dream in the wild. on contrary if we compare Sara  Smolinsky's life from the Novel ' Bread Givers ' by Angia Yezierska the culture definitely paves stones in her way to let her dream come true . In such cases it becomes very difficult to succeed unless one has passion for their set desire as Sara Smolinsky.

Jeff Bliss a student from Duncanville owns his teacher [Original]

Jeff bliss, a student of Duncan ville high school made a very good initiative in the class . He made a very clear and required stand to oppose the lazy teaching style of the teacher. He expressed his opinion in a very calm and composed style.Teaching is a profession which needs full energy investment of teacher to bring life to class, but merely distributing packets does not make any sense. The teacher needs to fill his class with life. The students need  inspiration , innovation  , creativity and as Jeff points out  most importantly excitement to be learn .  Merely sitting and passing on packets to students to read by themselves in not a good move, as it distracts the students from interest in education and makes them bore . They start to escape from that subject and lose interest . The teacher needs to find more new and interesting ways to be taught. Jeff emphasizes his point of view that , "There are kids in here that don't learn like that. They need to learn face to face. You want kids to come in class, you gotta make them excited." Its a very big idea which Jeff cleared out just in minutes and which made a huge difference in the school district as well as nation. It shows that he is self aware about his needs and desires. He knows what education he wants .

In addition, this step by Jeff inspired  the students all over the planet to be self aware about their education, as it their future and they are self responsible for their own future. His such a wonderful take moved all the school authorities to take some important steps against such teaching styles. He set an example for all other students as well as teachers. It is power of expression ; expression of one's views, ideas , beliefs and needs. He opened up the minds of other students as well . He showed that one must not stay confined to their comfort zone and should not get trapped in themselves, but instead should come out of their shells and begin to explore and learn new things in a passionate style the way they want and not merely by reading packets. They should not sit dumb in class and accept whatever is thrown to them .Education is their right and to get their right they should be self aware.

Furthermore, education especially school education is the foundation of a child's future, it is base of his further education . It should be taught with full dedication and excitement that it should generate a spark in them to learn. They should be taught that education doesn't simply means bookish knowledge , but it holds much deeper meaning. It leads to better understanding and exposure of the how the world lives and thinks. It is the teachers duty to inculcate the importance of education to students.

So, every student must learn  from Jeff , for being self aware about one's own education and to have guts and wit to report to the authority , if you are not getting what you really deserve. You must not settle dawn until you achieve your desire , your need .Jeff sets up a very provocative message to his peers.

Into The Wild

'Into The Wild' intersects with education, equity, privilege, race and class. 'Into The Wild' by Jon Krakaver highlights the explarations of a young boy named Alex, who after completing his college, turns out to be hitchiker to discover and adventure new things. He was passionate to live in the natural beauty. He loved to be in jungles, mountains, hills, around sea, etc. He is too thirsty for natural places to visit and feel the beauty of nature. This passion convinced him to leave his home.He also advises the same to Franz an 80 year old man whom he met on the way during his travels. He writes a letter to Franz after he left him, that"The very basic care of man's living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounter with new experiences"(57).He loves to be independent and self made.He couldn't bear the commanding nature of his father, and was fed up from environment of his home.He confesses his dislike towards his parents to his sister Carine whom he told that,"Their parent's behaviour was so irrational,so oppressive,so disrespectful and insulting that, finally passed by breaking paint(64).This could be one of the reason to rise of his natural beauty passion. He started to love more of wild nature's than humans. He was too passionate that once he would make his mind,he would never step back and nobody could change his mind.He wanted to do everything by his own without getting any kind of help as support from anyone.

However,Privilege too plays role in his life.He was privileged throughout his whole life.As he did live up to 5-6 months without any access to money or  financial support from family hitch hiking alone . he did get the rides and help from the local people of the areas wherever he did go due to his the privilege of his race. if he would not be white  than he might not even go that long as he would undergo stress and trauma of not getting support.  But he didn't like the privileged life style. His this attitude is admitted by Franz,80 year mom whom Alex accompanies for a while during his trip.Franz realize that Mcandless face would darken with anger and he'd fulminate about his parent's or politicians or endemic idiocy of mainstream American life(52).He was educated and lived a well settled life in his teen years, but all the luxuries he received from his privileged life meant nothing to him.In fact,he wanted to live his life by making his own efforts and by his own rules without being helped. He didn't like taking any gifts along with him when the people on the way to his journey would offer him, because he wanted to do everything by himself. He did not like accepting the gifts or anything free,as once when Wayne Westerberg offered him to pay for his ticket to Alaska he directly declined and said,"It would be cheating. It would wreak his whole trip(67).Such more his ideas and principles. He loved adventure and new experiences. He wanted to see everything that God had created. He rejoiced to live in the heart of nature,in the natural sense than with humans. He did not like human intimacy of friendship,On the contrary he loved to live by the slide of nature.

Moreover, education has no really any practical impact on his life style. Although, being a graduate from university he did not acknowledge education of any value. He did not get any positive impact from education as he did not find any use to what he had learnt in university. Education helped him in the sense that he was able to go to different places without any difficulties in reading maps and signs . but his university education failed to give a bright career to him , indeed it provoked him to go to that path as he had read a lot about the social problems in south africa etc . this all had such a negative impact on his mind that he started to isolate himself from humans. he loved his own company . he never felt loner although being alone. the human attractions could not change his mind.

ROSES TO CONCRETE

I agree to Jeff's point, that most common issue of students not performing well in the class or dropping out of college  is basically the un fulfillment of their basic needs. The basic needs include food , clothing, shelter, money , transportation , proper guidance , proper support , being social , etc . If these basic needs are met then the students can cross Mosleys's heirarchy of needs's second step. Education becomes the second priority of most of students when they are unable to get their basic needs fulfilled. For example, if they are not getting proper food, and are starving then their first priority comes how to get food and not education. Education comes on next place when they are faced with such circumstances. The second thing which distracts them from continual of their education is definitly the isolated system of college, where students come in class and are alienated to each other for whole semester. They don't get in  touch with each other, due to which they are not involved in college as much as they should. They don't know each other . Its like a life only by themselves . The sharing of knowleage does nOt take place. The relationship between college and students goes parrallel to each other due to this. furthermore ,if the student is continually absent from college for many days ,nobody cares to know the exact  reason . When he drops out or the instructor drops him or her out the reason should be tried to look after by the college. As ,it could be that the student is facing many obstacles and if college could help him or her in dealing with them .It could make more easier for the students to continue their college, and they can come up with their needs and problems to college.Due to the fact that the personal and basic issues are not given in any preference in college system the students mind keeps on distracted towards their problems ,they are always in such a state of mind that how their problem can be solved ,which nobody in college exactly knows .On the other hand if their problems could be helped by college to meet their needs and requirements then can the students make education their first priority.Every student basically has same capacity,  only the difference is in realization of their capacity of their specific interest.Although, every field of study is not meant for everybody, but, any one or two out of various courses are definitly meant for them based on their interests and passion.Education needs to be such which inspires the minds of students and not merely trains them.
1)Why do the students become less curious towards studies as they grow up, as compared to their younger years?

2)How can the students be more inspired towards college?

3)How can students be made more social to school and college surroundings?

7 Skills students need for their future

In this video Dr. Tony Wagner, author the global achievement gap brings out the problems faced by todays generation in education as well as continual learning ,and also he explores about how can those problems be overcome and improved. The basic reason why the students in colleges as well as in high schools are not engaged and interested in education,as they grow up the less curious they become? They lack the critical thinking and problem solving techniques. The best thing is that they should be inspired to think and write about their problems earlier than they face them and also they must be asked to analyze their current situations and how to deal with critical situations on their life in future. As the students make their problems ,more important than any other thing and find it best to drop out of college or school in order to solve their problems, when in fact ,this is the biggest problem they put themselves in , that is dropping out. Dropping out does not solve problem but in fact creates more problems for them in future.Dr. Tony also explains that why the multiple choice systems ruins the problem solving skills as well as imagination of the students. The reasoning skills of the students are weakened due to this. This also further effects them in their personal life as when faced with any critical situation , they do not know how to deal with it in a healthy way. He gives us an example of a student who was passionate to become scientist but when the education system did not meet his expectations , he just gave up on his passion of being a scientist , as his desire got burned out. the education system nowadays is more of isolated one in which the students are engaged and connected outside of school , but totally isolated inside of school. They have better connections and are more social outside of school than they are inside. To fix this problem the colleges and schools need to bring in more mutual engagement to understand the needs of the students. This is not that, todays generation does not want to do, but the actual problem lies in the fact that they loss patience easily ,as this era is very very quick . Everything is too quick in todays world that when they think that their expectations are not being met in the college they just find the easy way to drop out and start finding any alternate way to bring their desires and dreams to reality.Todays students want proper reason for everything they are being taught, that How can this subject help me in building my career ,but when they do not get appropriate answer to their questions they get frustrated and find college worthless. This can be one of the reason of dropping out of college along with many others.Dr. Wagner gives a very helpful advise to videotape the responses of students while in college or after they graduate, and it is very important to analyze their responses as , he says that it could be that some of their responses can be hard to hear. I like the quote he reasons in the end of the lecture, that, "Education is most isolated profession in modern worklife and isolation is the enemy of improvement".

The Potential Deal Breakers Of Thriving In College

Every student has a desire to be well educated and able to stand in today's competitive world. There are students who get better opportunities and resources to explore their dreams and desires, also there are one's who struggle day and night to get that opportunities as well as resources. Every person on the planet has issues in their life and everyone has a different story. Some of the stories and issues are very common among all that can affect their studies and future. There are two basic reasons of students dropping off from colleges . They are :

1) Money : It is one of the most potential deal breakers. Most of the students in college face this issue. For instance , considering myself , as a new immigrant , I am  too  facing this issue currently  which can be one of the basic reasons that I can no longer be in college. One person earning and other four dependent on one is very difficult situation. Secondly, not having residency of one year in this college has made it more difficult to pay my fees and other expenses. Although it could be that i wouldn't attend college due to non residency, but I was unable to sit at home and wait for one year at home. So , I decided to take part time college, so that at least my education will not be neutral. I am also not eligible for financial aid and fee waiver which has made it more difficult. Due to this my family is financially not very standing and this is one of the basic thing that can affect my education too.

2) Personal : This could be the second reason for my dropping out of college. Everybody, at some point have certain issues which could affect their near future . In the same way I too have some personal issues which can become obstruction in my education. Due to this , at some point of the day I feel very depressed and helpless and also lose confidence , which affects my overall performance in college. That is the time I cannot concentrate and keep my focus . My attention gets diverted , which makes it challenging to perform better in class.

STRATEGIES TO DEAL WITH THESE ISSUES : It is well said that, if god gives problems than he also gives solutions as well. As every lock has a key,  so does every problem has a solution. The only thing is to unlock the solutions and try to grab opportunities and  focus on every small issue that affects our life. small things make big changes. I too have some planned strategies to deal with my current problems. They are :

As far as money is concerned I am searching for a job nearby my home so that I can go by walking, as neither I have a license and nor any means of transportation of my own. Once I get job, one of my biggest concern will be solved and i can be satisfied and confidently keep on continuing my education. That will make me more of myself, as I will not be dependent and can be able to afford the expenses of my education. It will also build a foundation for my career. This will solve both my deal breakers ; money as well as personal . As I will be busy and also self dependent I will be able to focus more on my education than on my problems. So, my first priority at this moment is getting self dependent and continuing my education by all means.

Relationship between Passion and Privilege

Passion is a strong desire, strong will that creates an enthusiasm in you and fills you with deep curosity and excitement to accomplish your desires. It is like a spark inside you which keeps you burning inside day and night, that drives you filling you with determination and courage. When you are passionate about something you don't get rid of your desires at any time and always are tuned to accomplish them. Passion plays a major role and is very necessory to bring a difference in your life. It becomes very important especially when you have to fight against, in order to fulfill it. For example, it becomes difficult to get into competition, to bring our passion to real when you compete with the one's who are privileged. Privilege can be of any type, that is it could be race, gender, sexuality, religion , location etc. A very precised example of such difficult path is that of sarah Smolinsky, the main character in the novel ' The Bread Givers' by Anzia Yezierska. The novel beautifully portrays the challenges faced by the unprivileged ones. During such moments, when one competes to fulfill their passion and desires by ruling out the set norms by the privileged one's, the obstacles increase and the path to success becomes more thorny and challenging. at such moments, it is the passion that keeps one from giving up and just keep moving on and on and on. Privilege is something that is unearned and got as  a gift. However, if someone is very passionate as well as privileged by any of the above cases it becomes somewhat easier to accomplish their set goals and desires.it becomes a ladder in between the dreams and reality.

Quiet often the dreams and passions of the most of the people get shattered, due to the role of privilege. Privilege and passion are two things which when together can earn you great things in life, but if anyone is missing than it becomes very difficult to earn our desires and goals. For example, the privileged ones get better opportunities as well as better environment to bring their dreams to reality, but , on the other hand the unprivileged one's have to create better opportunities for themselves rather than being got as a gift unlike the privileged ones. For instance, When a girl is passionate about doing something to fulfill her passion, the patriarchy, religion, race, sexuality as well as location are the major obstacles she has to go through which makes her difficult to get through her dreams unlike if it that she was a boy. similarly, when someone from the homosexuals or race other than whites tries to achieve some set goal, he /she has to fight all these issues to succeed. Due to all these obstacles most of the times the dreams are left dreams, and people quit, as they get tired of fighting against the privileged ones. So in order to get your passion, one needs to be well prepared to fight against all these factors and never giving up attitude is very very important. as, it is true that people will try to push one  to their limits, but it all depends on us how we handle that. It is our attitude that matters. It is our will as well as positivity that matters.

'THE PASSION PROJECT' MOVIE

The movie 'The Passion Project' explores passion. It motivates me to dig deep inside me and explore my passion. It drives into a new world full of dreams and desires, and the needs and requirements to fulfill passion. It convinces to discover oneself to try something unique and motivational. The best thing about the movie is the example of the our own nerves, that in order for our brain to work efficiently our nerves first get excited and then unite together in a line to pass on the message to brain, as a result of this our brain takes action. In the same way passion is  like a burning desire inside which keeps one excited to accomplish the set goals and desires. In order to fulfill the goals one needs to be more social and unite like the nerves, to give as well as get support to others and cooperate to brings ones dream to reality. The joint ideas of a group produces something more fruitful than one single persons ideas. The support from parents as well as teachers is very essential to fulfill goals, as it inspires us to think big and guide us. The next most essential thing is the never give up attitude , which is the prime requirement to fulfill our ideas and goals. Along with this also sharing ones ideas and distributing as well as gaining new knowledge is very important. It is like a thirst that keeps on increasing .
